Prompt for the Day: “World’s Best Widget”

The uncoordinated people from the Daily Post division of Word Press seem to think gadgets are made with magic or something when they came up with today’s prompt for our creations of “World’s Best Widget“.  They made one statement followed by a question-“You’ve been granted magical engineering skills, but you can only use them to build one gadget or machine. What do you build?”

As a former Network Engineer

I would try to invent a widget that would help manage network traffic more effectively.  Today’s networks thankfully no longer rely on noisy mechanical switching to connect traffic from one location to another.  Today, most networks utilize lightning fast switching to connect one area of the network with the next.  Routers don’t seem to be the work horse of today.  Switching has taken over the ability to connect networks faster, but there are great problems with eliminating routers from discarding foreign traffic from the secure network installation!

How do you keep both competitors and other evil entities from damaging your traffic flow?  Other countries may be getting access to our information by hacking our systems today.  Our very military back in 1992 was able to have a freshman in college, hack into one of the schools that housed one of our nuclear reactors.  I only left a simple message for the site’s administrator on how I was able to gain access to the system.  Have not tried getting back in since.   Have no idea if they resolved the problem or not.

Please Help Fight this Evil Disease

The medicine my neurologist has prescribed for me for my multiple sclerosis is called Tysabri. Trying to find the actual cost on the internet is basically nearly impossible. I remember when I first started on the drug the amount the facility tried charging me was well over $2500. There was no way my husband and I could afford then or every 28 days! Biogen (the company that manufactures the drug) has been helping us with some of the cost of the drug, but will not continue helping indefinitely. So I have started a Go Fund Me campaign.
