Prompt for the Day: “Unexpected Guests”

The prompt for today was unappealing, so I used the prompt offered on December 15th by the extroverts at the Daily Post division of Word Press.  The prompt I have chosen to use is “Unexpected Guests“.  They also gave two additional sentences to whet our writing apatite – “You walk into your home to find a couple you don’t know sitting in your living room, eating a slice of cake. Tell us what happens next.”

As an introvert who is very concerned with safety, if my husband is not home, the first thing I do is get on my cell phone which I  carry with me everywhere and call 911!  Proceed to the back door where my wheelchair ramp is (if I am not deterred) and escape with my life still intact.

Once the police arrive, have them dispose of whatever the intruders were eating (cake is not normally in our home) and thank the nice officers.  Ask the police if they had any idea how the people were able to break into our home, so we can correct the security problem.

If my husband is home, there will be an argument after the strangers leave about why he didn’t warn me they were coming.  After the heated discussion is finished, resume talking about what is on the schedule for the remainder of the day.

The medicine my neurologist has me on for my multiple sclerosis is called Tysabri.  Trying to find the actual cost on the internet is impossible.  I remember when I first started on it , the amount the facility tried charging me was well over $2500.  There was no way my husband and I could afford that every 28 days!  Biogen (the manufacturing drug company) has been helping us with some of the cost of the drug, but will not continue helping indefinitely.  So I have started a Go Fund Me campaign.  To contribute to the fund, click on the following link: https://www.gofundme.com/zfabhdes

Prompt for the Day: “The New School”

The prompt the wonderful people at the Daily Post group of Word Press gave us for the day is: “The New School“.  They also gave us a suggestion followed by two thought provoking questions: “You get to redesign school as we know it from the ground up. Will you do away with reading, writing, and arithmetic? What skills and knowledge will your school focus on imparting to young minds?”

First off the school will have to be completely handicap accessible!  Children may have been born with natural physical limitations, they need to still be able to be included at the school.  Will still concentrate on reading, writing, and math (just not the dreaded Common Core of today)!  Music will be included in some form in the school.  Deaf students may possibly enjoy the physical vibrations caused by the music.  Blind students have absolutely no difficulties hearing the music!

Kids should all learn skills necessary for daily survival out in today’s world.  Basic self defense classes could teach the children how to defend themselves from other creatures existing in the world today!  People have a huge bad habit of taking advantage of the weak.  Kids need to know what to do.  Actual animals like dogs could also be a threat to kids.

Search for what each kid has to offer the world.  You may come across the next military leader the world needs to discover to insure we will see peace, some day!  A budding artist may be attending the school, you just have to give them the opportunity to hone their skills.  The next William Faulkner‘s mind may exist in your very classrooms!

You just need to give the kids a chance to shine at their own talents that you will help them discover.  Give them exposure to as much information as you can, then step back.  No idea how the kids will benefit from their exposure, give them time and encouragement!

Writing prompt: Style Icon

The prompt for today from WordPress is Style Icon.  Am willing to get out and tell you up front:

I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO STYLE!!

Tripping over my own feet is a normal for me.  Never even had any grace as a child.  Was true even long before I ended up in a wheelchair due to multiple sclerosis.  Am a natural born klutz.

Make the 3 Stooges look mild in their comedy acts.  At least they were trying to be funny!  My body just falls for no deicernable reason.

My only style is that I now am able to fall with out hurting myself!  Learned that partially from the Tae Kwondo self defense classes I took along with the man who would later become my husband, the rest is from experience and the way we set up our house here in MN.

 

Baton’s May Be the Answer to the Gun Problem in the USA

Get baton training for self-defense over the internet if nothing else.  There are laws governing the sale and use of batons at this in some locations of our country.  You will need to check with local law enforcement to find out if there are any laws in your area you need to be concerned with.  Even the elderly can defend themselves with a baton.

Some police departments even offer baton self-defense training to the public.  With the way economy is today, everyone should learn how to defend themselves.  You may have to protect your own kids from would be attackers one day.  Think of saving a group of young children from an insane person with a gun, without having to fire a single shot.

Batons do not require expensive ammunition.  Supply the striking force yourself!  You may be the only adult with any self-defense training in the area, when someone attacks children.

Face it, police are spread pretty thin due to budget cuts around the country.  I’m not talking about going out and stirring up trouble, but you should be able to defend yourself and protect your family.  Learn how to stay calm when crisis presents itself to you and your family.

What would you do if someone threatened you or your family members?  Having self-defense training is the only way to prepare yourself before an emergency occurs.  You will be able to hopefully train your family members how to protect themselves.  Self preparedness is essential to protecting your family in emergencies!

Self-defense classes also provide a good workout, so if your goal is to help your family become physically fit you can kill two birds with one stone!  Signing your family up for self-defense classes can increase the self-esteem of bashful people who tend to hide away from the spot light,

My husband and I used to take tae kwondo lessons when we first started dating.  We both had a great time and it helped us get into better shape.  We stopped going because I was in the process of getting diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.   Miss both the workouts and my instructor.

Since we have moved several times to different places around the country, we have not been able to find a new instructor.  The benefits our instructor gave to the children he taught included self-confidence and goal setting.  Having a class with mixed age groups helps people learn how to get along with people of different ages.

The Old Statement That Guns Do Not Kill People, People Kill People Still Applies Today

After the recent killings across the country, people are pressuring the government to outlaw guns.  Outlawing guns does not necessarily get them out of the hands of criminals.  It just gets them out of the hands of law abiding citizens.  Who will protect our kids if guns are outlawed?

It is possible to get on the the directions on how to print out a gun on the internet.  This knowledge is in the hands of the good guys as well as the bad ones.  Criminals could print out an untraceable gun to kill your kids or their personal enemies.

Tracing the printed out guns is hard unless the person printing out the gun is stupid enough to leave finger prints all over the printed work.   Don’t our manufacturing companies need to keep printing out demos, or we could just outlaw the ownership of printers that make physical demos possible?  Without making demos how would companies be able to manufacture new products?  With out new products our unemployment rate would climb through the rood!

Our country was founded by people who wanted to be able to produce exciting new business ventures and raise their own families with the freedom of religion and speech.  That allows them to be able to teach the next generation how to grow into successful adults.

Our wild west days may have come to an end, but part of being an American is the right to bear arms.  My arms are not steady enough to handle a fire arm, but I still think it is a right we should exercise if we are licensed and capable of handling a firearm.  Both my husband and father-in-law are licensed and capable of safely handling a weapon.

The official wars here in this country may have ceased, but if they were to resume for some unthinkable reason they could help defend us.  We have no children by personal decision, but I am still protective of kids.  We have enough nieces and nephews to keep us in the loop.

Kids have to be protected from all the lunatics in this world.  For some ungodly reason they seem to attack the soft under-belly of our families.  Crazy people have a very hurtful sense of timing.

I hope you protect your families through these tempestuous times.  Remember guns do not kill people, People kill people.
