Prompt for the Day: “Happy Endings”

The people in search of a good story, devised today’s prompt of “Happy Endings“.    They included a simple statement followed by two serious questions-“Tell us about something you’ve tried to quit. Did you go cold turkey, or for gradual change? Did it stick?”

Alcoholism

Went away to college out of state all alone at the wise old age of 17 years old.  By the end of the first semester, relied on alcohol to help me complete my programming homework.  My best code was written when I was drunk off my ass!  Took coming across a picture taken with my own camera my sophomore year for me to realize I had a severe drinking problem.  Was pretty sure I went to the room next door wearing jeans and a T-shirt like normal, but the picture showed me in my pajamas.  When and where did I change clothes, and more importantly who was with me while I changed?  Immediately, dumped out all my remaining alcohol down the kitchen sink.

Spent the weekend alone experiencing detox from my drinking habit.  Spent too much time worshiping the porcelain gods vomiting in the bathroom.  Lighter now and clearer in the mind, cleaned up my mess from getting ill.

When my roommate returned from the long weekend, asked if she was around when the picture was taken.  Turns out, I had came back to our room and changed alone in the bathroom.  Did not touch a drop for the remainder of my college career!  My programming sucked when I was sober, unfortunately,  But I stood strong on my decision not to drink anymore!

Please help fight my disease

The medicine my neurologist has me on for my multiple sclerosis is called Tysabri.  Trying to find the actual cost on the internet is impossible.  I remember when I first started on it , the amount the facility tried charging me was well over $2500.  There was no way my husband and I could afford that every 28 days!  Biogen (the manufacturing drug company) has been helping us with some of the cost of the drug, but will not continue helping indefinitely.  So I have started a Go Fund Me campaign.  To contribute to the fund, click on the following link: https://www.gofundme.com/zfabhdes

All help will be greatly appreciated.   Thank you for your generosity!
