Mondays are Loaded with Possibilities

Used to love Mondays, when I was still able to work as a network engineer.  You never knew what challenges would present themselves to your network.  Could be a vicious hacker attack or a natural disaster, you never knew ahead of time!

I miss all the exciting challenges that would come up unexpected.  A random snow storm or hurricane was not that unheard of.  You just had to meet the problem head on and conquer it.  People all around the world dealt with problems differently. Had to learn how to deal with other cultures so you could respect their individual beliefs.  As long as they were not physically hurting others, you just had to roll with the punches.

One of the best discussions on religion I ever had was with a group of coworkers during lunch.  We had many of the different religions represented during the conversation. Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists and a few others I can’t remember what their beliefs were all participated in the discussion. We just agreed to listen to each other so we could learn more about our friend’s beliefs.  There was no judging, just helping each other understand where they were coming from.  If our managers would have found out what type of conversation we were having, we could have all been fired!  No one felt threatened or pressured in any way.  We were just educating each other about our personal beliefs.

In the world today, those type of lunch breaks can no longer happen.  The world has changed so much since 9/11/2001. There is no way we could have had that conversation today.  Our world has been damaged too much by the terrorists to ever allow those type of relaxed conversations to occur.  Our children will never know what exploring other faiths is like.  I remember attending a Bat Mitzvah for a young Jewish girl. Was under the mistaken impression that females had no place in the Jewish faith.

Mondays are always loaded with unending possibilities. Terrorists or not, it is still the start of a new week!
