“I don’t care anymore”

“This Is Your Song” was the daily prompt for Feb. 2nd 2016. They gave us one line of directions-“Take a line from a song that you love or connect with. Turn that line into the title of your post.”. Was the song that moved me most during junior-senior high school while I was growing up in the backwaters of southern Illinois.  The song was written by my personal favourite musician Phil Collins “I don’t care anymore“.  Was also enamoured by his song, “Take Me Home.”

Basically,

back then listened to anything to get away from the hell in which I was living at the time!  Managed to finally escape out of state to attend college at the ripe old age of 17.  Started listening to new music groups then.  After graduating from college, got married the next day to the love of my life.  We both listen to the same types of music.  Older rock, country, and a few ecliptic favourites.  Phil’s current works that are included in movies we both like and enjoy are on our play lists today!

After over 20 years of marriage, our music tastes have not changed too much.  The new music that comes out today, just doesn’t appeal to either of us!

The medicine my neurologist has put me on for my multiple sclerosis is called Tysabri. Trying to find the actual cost on the internet is nearly impossible. I remember when I first started on the drug the amount the facility tried charging me was well over $2500. There was no way my husband and I could afford that every 28 days! Biogen (the company that manufactures the drug) has been helping us with some of the cost of the drug, but will not continue helping indefinitely. So I have started a Go Fund Me campaign. Prompt for the Day-“Just Another Day”

The inquiring people at the Daily Post department of Word Press crafted today’s prompt of “Just Another Day” to ignite our creative sparks.  They made one additional comment, followed by a question: “Our days are organized around numerous small actions we repeat over and over. What’s your favorite daily ritual?”

My favorite Daily Ritual

The prompt for today made me think of the wonderful song “Another Day in Paradise” by the talented musician Phil Collins.

My personal favorite daily ritual happens around one in the afternoon each day.  I eat three squares of pure dark chocolate by Hersey’s Bliss, while reading a book.  Once that is completed, I proceed to call my best friend from grade, junior, senior high school.  We were friends long before I took her with me to my grandparents in grade school, where my grandma started laughing at us because neither of us knew we were actually cousins!  Even though we turned out to be related, we continued our friendship!  (All of my other relatives, I do not get along with at all.)  I naturally do not hold being related to me against my good friend.

Prompt for the Day-“Teen Age Idol”

The idol worshipping people from the Daily Post group of Word Press came up with today’s prompt of “Teen Age Idol” to get us drooling as we wrote today.  Then they asked several questions:”Who did you idolize as a teenager? Did you go crazy for the Beatles? Ga-ga over Duran Duran? In love with Justin Bieber? Did you think Elvis was the livin’ end?”

My Teen Age Idols

During both Junior and Senior High school, I followed a group known as “Genesis“.  Had one of their posters on my bedroom wall.  Had a little crush on their keyboardist Tony Banks.  Loved their “Invisible Touch” album.  Today, my husband and I are still fans of their lead singer Phil Collins.

Phil has been instrumental in various popular movies today.  Granted most of them on outside appearance are shows created for children, but mosy have a great amount of deeper meaning if you read between the lines!  The movie ‘Mulan” inspires females to be stronger than their parents brought them up to be.  “Brother Bear”  helps the younger generation learn about different Indian cultures in other parts of the world.  Learning what a totem is helped make sense of the older generation’s way of doing things.

Prompt of the Day – “Seat Guru”

The extroverts at the Daily Post group of Word Press chose “Seat Guru” for today’s writing prompt.  One sentence of instruction, followed by a question:  “You get to plan a dinner party for 4-8 of your favorite writers/artists/musicians/other notable figures, whether dead or alive. Who do you seat next to whom in order to inspire the most fun evening?”

First choice would be Albert Einstein

Face it, the man came up with the theory of relativity!  What an exciting physicist of his age.  Would love to discus physics with the man.  He knows what it is like to survive as an introvert with a mind that works non-stop all the time.  Seat him next to the door, in case he needs to escape from the crowd.

Second, Ray Bradbury

Mr. Bradbury was one of my favorite authors in grade school.  Read every one of his books that the school library contained (considering not many people in the town had ever heard of him, that wasn’t too many).

Phil Collins would be next

Collins has been my favorite musician since junior high school.  Both me and my husband still enjoy many of his works today!  Getting involved with  creating sound tracks for movies definitely was a stroke of genius as far as his career as a composer goes in making an ongoing need for his craft.

Alan Alda is the last

From Alan‘s portrayal of Hawkeye Pierce on the classic television show “MASH“,  his character was the life of the party!  He needs to wear the tuxedo his father (in the show) sent him.  No party exists with out his presence.
