Plop is the Articulate Prompt for the Day

The possibly constipated or otherwise ill people at the Daily Post group of Word Press settled on the word “Plop” for us to base our daily creations on today.

Grew up Listening to Commercials

Today’s prompt made me think of an old commercial!  Alka-Seltzer’s commercial from the late 60’s.

Back then they actually made decent commercials with catchy tunes to them!  Who can forget when Coke decided to teach the world to sing?  Where did all the gifted commercial writers disappear to these days?  Hopefully they are living off their earnings from the old days when people enjoyed listening to their songs!  They deserve a break after a successful run on commercial television.

Do you remember commercials from when you were little?

Sort of Sad

That the only good memories from child hood came from commercials on the limited amount of T.V. reception we managed to get out in the middle of nowhere southern IL!  Could count the number of channels we could mange to receive on one hand and have a few fingers left over!

Thankfully we were able to get P.B.S. on most days, since that was my main source of education.  Seasame Street and The Electric Company introduced me to the world of reading, or my endless source of knowledge as I call it!  All it took was some tin foil wrapped around the rabbit ear antennas, a little patience, and standing in the right location to view the magic of educational television.

The Rest of Time

There used to be decent sitcoms like M.A.S.H. and Welcome Back Kotter to help keep the family’s entertained.  None of the trash like people are exposed to today!

Please Help Fight Sickening Disease

Found out I had the disease a little over a year after graduation from college.  The medicine my neurologist prescribed for me to treat my multiple sclerosis currently is called Tysabri. Trying to find the actual cost on the internet is basically nearly impossible. I remember when I first started on the drug the amount the facility tried charging me was well over $2500. There was no way my husband and I could afford that then or every 28 days! Biogen (the company that manufactures the drug) has been helping us with some of the cost of the drug, but will not continue helping indefinitely. If you would like to contribute to my fight against this mind stealing disease, please contribute by visiting  my personal website at http://saintpblogging.com/wp/ and seeing the copies of my writings located there!

Prompt for the Day: “Sentimental”

The reminiscent people from the Daily Post group of Word Press chose “Sentimental” for today’s prompt.  Then they made the usual obvious statement-“Write a new post in response to today’s one-word prompt.”

Sentimental

Made me think of an episode of the old great television show from M.A.S.H. where one of the characters named Cornel Potter was remembering his favorite song “Sentimental Journey” performed by Doris Day.  At the end of the long nights of surgery hearing the song played over and over, even he got tired of hearing the classic!

Am very sentimental myself about a few select things.  Kept ever letter my husband ever wrote me, have a few of the gifts he gave me while we were dating, like the glass etching of a unicorn made by one of the craftsmen from a place called Red Oak II.  He gave me a glass music box of a white horse that plays the song from “Chariots of Fire” when wound up.  We have drug these things with us through more than a hand full of states of the country.

We own copies of the entire collection of episodes from M.A.S.H. since we both like watching it.  We both enjoy the same types of music, but I am moved most by songs from Andrew Lloyd Weber’s “Phantom of the Opera” which we have seen several times.

Prompt for the Day: “( YAWN )”

The boring people at the Daily Post group of Word Press really stretched their minds to arrive at the prompt of “YAWN” for today’s writing inspiration.  Thay also included a single question-“What bores you?”

Boredom!

This topic makes me think of an episode from the television series “M.A.S.H.”, where Hawkeye conjugates the word “bored” out loud to his tentmate.

Politics, in general, bore me today.  Where did the days of politicians actually working for their constituents go?  Nowadays, it seems as if they feel that they are owed the right of a seat in congress or the senate.  They used to have to EARN the right to be chosen to represent the everyday people of this country.

Religions now days also bore me to tears!  Too many faiths seem to be after the almighty dollar instead of saving other’s souls from sin and eternal damnation.  Aren’t they supposed to concentrate on helping other humans live a fulfilling life in the service of the Lord?

Here’s a strange thought, how about if a politician manages to feel the calling from above?  Would they try to save their followers?
