Eclipse is the Prompt for Today

The people with their heads in the clouds at the Daily Post division of Word Press chose the word “Eclipse” for us to create our daily works of art about.

Remember the First One I Watched

Back in grade school.  We were not allowed to look directly at the sun (for obvious reasons), but had to view it through a strange cardboard construction we made in class.  Scary to trust my eyes to something I had crafted with my own two hands!   There were the usual class clowns that braved watching it with no protection for their eyes even though they had made one like I had in class.  Do not know if their vision was damaged at all years down the road.  If it was, they deserved it for not following our teacher’s instruction!

Did you get to view an eclipse as a child?

Loved Observing the Heavens

When I was younger, since I wanted to be an astronaut upon graduation from college.  Remember watching Halley’s Comet when it came near while I was still in junior high school back in 1986.  Was part of the Young Astronauts club that year.  Ended up as president of the club!  Maybe because I was the geekiest, who knows?

Left State for College

There I unfortunately learned there was a height requirement for astronauts during my first semester away.  I was TOO short to ever achieve my dream!  Was a sudden shadow on my life’s goals.  Decided to change my major to computer science, since computers were my other interest in life.

Applied and was accepted for an internship with a dairy company at the end of my sophomore year.  There I studied and submitted a paper on the job of a computer programmer.  Found out that gave me absolutely no feeling of a life long career position, so the next semester looked into network administration.

Fell in love with the idea of not only being able to tell data packets where to go, but how to get there!  This would be my new dream job.  Was hired on permanently full time at the internship site.  That happened before I ever graduated from college!  Worked there for a few years after graduation, then a close co-worker passed away. Could not handle his empty desk.

Started searching for a new employer.   Found a company who dealt with the networks of fortune 500 companies ll over the country.  They actually hired little old me.  Drug my husband with me up to a suburb of Chicago to pursue my dream position in life.  Talk about a total eclipse!  From working for a dairy company to helping major companies deal with their Y2K difficulties, man had things changed.

Please Help Fight Evil Disease

Found out I had the disease a little over a year after graduation from college.  The medicine my neurologist prescribed for me to treat my multiple sclerosis is called Tysabri. Trying to find the actual cost on the internet is basically nearly impossible. I remember when I first started on the drug the amount the facility tried charging me was well over $2500. There was no way my husband and I could afford that then or every 28 days! Biogen (the company that manufactures the drug) has been helping us with some of the cost of the drug, but will not continue helping indefinitely. If you would like to contribute to my fight against this mind stealing disease, please contribute by visiting  my personal website at http://saintpblogging.com/wp/ and seeing the copies of my writings located there!

Prompt for the Day: “Phase”

The people who are either interested in patterns of the moon in our night sky or are way to into werewolf stories chose the word “Phase” to inspire our daily works of art.

Glancing through Telescopes”

May have used to fascinate me.  Tried to catch a glimpse of “Halley’s Comet” while in grade school, turned out to be a flop due to weather conditions.  Got to watch many meteor showers at night that way though!

Got way too hooked on reading books.  Have several books featuring werewolves now.  When the moon is full one of those creatures is generally on the prowl for a fresh human blood donor.  Since I know there is NO such creatures as a werewolf or a vampire, I do not put too much stock into my knowledge of the creature’s habits.  When Halloween roles around, I used to dress up as a vampire for the evening.  No vampire costume is complete with out a fake blood dripping from your fake fangs!  Grossed one of my high school teachers out that way.

The teacher apparently had a weak stomach to go along with her lack of teaching abilities.  Don’t worry, got along fine with the rest of the math and science teachers.  They actually understood their respective subjects.  I could have taught the class more effectively than she did.

Got in a loud discussion with her about how she had misgraded one of my geometry proofs.  The noise drew the attention of the next class over’s instructor.  He came to see what was happening.  He looked at the paper and let her know that I was absolutely correct.  Having been my calculus teacher he knew I was very thorough in my proving of math theories.  He also was never sickened by my favourite Halloween costumes, either!

Prompt for the Day: “Take Me to the Moon”

The prompt suggested by WordPress for today is sort of too limiting for my taste. “Take Me to the Moon” doesn’t get you into the outer space realm I had always dreamed of going to as a child.  What if I wanted to visit Halley’s Comet or Saturn?

Why are we limiting ourselves to this galaxy?  There are many other galaxies out there that our scientists have only glimpsed sights of with their telescopes.

Ever wonder where the martians are living?  I doubt it is actually the red planet of Mars!  Probably not even in this galaxy, let alone this solar system.  What do they call themselves?  Do their bodies breathe like we do?  That may be why they don’t require an air filled environment like us mere humans do.

Maybe their bodies are actually able to gather life sustaining nutrients from the ground as they move over it (notice how I left out how they moved).  Could be walking, slithering, flying, or some other means of transporting themselves from one place to another.

The other creatures that are out there somewhere are probably reclining back and laughing as our race makes blunder after blunder!  I just laugh hysterically when our cat falls of the top of my husband’s recliner.  Think about how the beings from other worlds view our constant stupidity.  Guess we are the equivalent of our comedy channel in real time for their personal entertainment!

Wonder if they have a superior form of justice than we have on this planet.  Maybe they can tell for sure if someone is lying or breaking the what ever form of laws they have.  Wouldn’t that be wonderful to always know who the real culprit is?  Ever wondered how they actually reproduce?  They may just grow an appendage that breaks off as a new life form.  You never know!
