Prompt of for the Day: “Press It”

The energetic people from the Daily Post group of Word Press crafted today’s prompt of “Press It” to help us authors share the love of other people’s writings.  They gave us one single instruction for our works today “Give some love to three blog posts you’ve read and loved in the past week, and tell us why they’re worth reading.”

Considering I spend a lot of time reading other people’s work, limiting it to only three may be quite the challenge!

One of the ones has to be:

One by Janice Wald http://mostlyblogging.com/8-backlinking-mistakes-that-every-blogger-should-avoid/.  Learned a lot from this post like normal.  Just about every single week, she shares information I end up incorporating in my blogs!

Another is:

Crissy Dean contributor under the name if reallifenaturalwife.  She always offers a good read.  Here is one of here works:  http://reallifenaturalwife.com/2015/08/26/anna-duggar-is-blamed-for-her-husbands-affair/#more-1631.  Controversial, occasionally, but who doesn’t enjoy a great debate or two to get the blood pumping?

If you want to do deep thinking:

Follow, http://highexistence.com/.  There are several contributors to this site.  Haven’t come across a single boring entry here.  Who knows what in the cosmos you will learn about.  Black holes, deep space adventures, religions, nothing is off limits with these people.  Should We Rever the Universe?

The medicine my neurologist has me on for my multiple sclerosis is called Tysabri.  Trying to find the actual cost on the internet is impossible.  I remember when I first started on it , the amount the facility tried charging me was well over $2500.  There was no way my husband and I could afford that every 28 days!  Biogen (the manufacturing drug company) has been helping us with some of the cost of the drug, but will not continue helping indefinitely.  So I have started a Go Fund Me campaign.  To contribute to the fund, click on the following link: https://www.gofundme.com/zfabhdes

Prompt for the Day: “Hate to Love”

The amorous people close to the Daily Post group of Word Press came up with today’s prompt of “Hate to Love” to inflame our creativity sparks.   They made one single additional instruction-“Tell us about a guilty pleasure that you hate to love.”.

My guilty pleasure

Is the chocolate I HAVE to indulge in every single day!  Just straight dark chocolates from Hershey.  To be more specific, I eat no more or no less than 3 squares of Hershey’s dark chocolate Bliss each and every day!Hershey's Dark Chocolate Bliss

This chocolate makes me feel better around one in the afternoon.  Has no disgusting additives like nuts or gooey centers to get stuck on my teeth.  Just a delicious pleasure ensuing feel good snack to pick me up for the rest of the day!

What a better way to indulge in a guilty pleasure, than to actually schedule it every day into your daily plans?  To me operating on a schedule is a necessity for my very existence.  Schedule when I get up, when I am supposed to eat, you get the idea.  If it is not on my schedule, it doesn’t happen!

Prompt of the Day : “If I Ruled the World”

The power hungry people at the Daily Post division of Word Press came up with today’s prompt of “If I Ruled the World“.  Included a single direction and then asked a really difficult question – “You’ve been given the superpower to change one law of nature. How do you use it?

The law I want to change

Is the ability for germs to mutate.  With this change the creation of super bugs would no longer occur naturally.  That unfortunately does not rule out a man made germ being created.  The natural super bugs would ease the work of doctors and nurses all over the world.

No more cancer mutations to take the lives of children before they reach their prime.  Deadly MERS infections would be cut out.  Diseases we had knocked out in the US, years ago returning to haunt us with a significantly worse out break.  People today are not equipped  to deal with things like the bubonic plague.

Prompt for the Day – “Pick Your Gadget”

The clever people associated with the Daily Post portion of Word Press were given the following suggestion for today’s prompt to intrigue our minds “Pick Your Gadget“.  They followed that prompt with a statement and a question: “Your local electronics store has just started selling time machines, anywhere doors, and invisibility helmets. You can only afford one. Which of these do you buy, and why?”

Electronics Store

The only places that interest me more are a computer store and a hardware store.  An electronics store puts me in near nirvana!

Think if I had to make the choice suggested by the Daily Press, I would chose the time machine so I could go visit my grandpa when he was still alive and younger than when I was born.  Would love to have a chance to meat him before the emphysema started causing him breathing problems.  His career consisted of many different jobs.  By the time I was born, he was the caretaker of the local cemetery in town.  He built buildings all over the country.  He literally traveled the world as a Navy crew member.  While in the Navy he met and married my grandmother.  They had three children together.  Since he was based near the eastern coast of America, his kids grew up around the Norfolk Virginia area.

Upon retiring, they all journeyed back to the town where grandma grew up in and he purchased a home for them.  I saw the house many times (basically every week while living at home), wish I could have seen all the changes that were made to it along the way.

Prompt for the Day: “Strike a Chord”

The musically interested people at the Daily Press division of Word Press chose “Strike a Chord” for the writing prompt for today.  They asked a two questions, followed by a statement to give us a starting direction-“Do you play an instrument? Is there a musical instrument whose sound you find particularly pleasing? Tell us a story about your experience or relationship with an instrument of your choice.”

Inherited 3 Clarinets

The first was from my mother.  Her parents had given it to her while she was in grade school.  When I started fourth grade, she let me learn how to play it in the local grade school band.  Ended up competing in several contests with the instrument.  When I moved into junior high school, kept playing the B flat clarinet.  Took up the school’s bass clarinet, wasn’t much different.  Started having problems with the dexterity of my hands due to multiple sclerosis, so started playing the drums which required less coordination from my hands.

Took a couple of years off from band due to problems going on in the school system.   My junior and senior year, started playing my mom’s saxophone.  Since we didn’t have a good sax player in the district, it was either me or nothing!

Still have my mom’s clarinet in my possession.  Inherited another two antique clarinets from my great grandfather.  He used to play them in a local German dance band.  One was an Albert system B flat the other was a E flat of the same system.  I loved playing the older system, since the trills were easier for me to perform with that design!

Prompt for the Day: “Everything Changes”

The slow people at the Daily Post division of Word Press just realized a shocking reality! They chose today’s prompt to reflect the fact that “Everything Changes“.  They added three simple statements to our directions on what we should write about: “Walking down the street, you encounter a folded piece of paper on the sidewalk. You pick it up and read it and immediately, your life has changed. Describe this experience.”

The prompt made me think of an old episode of “The Brady Bunch” when one of the boy’s voice changed due to age.  For singer’s a voice change can be catastrophic!

Personally, the only thing I do with trash I find on the ground is to deposit it in the nearest trash receptacle.  Unless it is a self exploding piece of paper (they DO exist) it would not change my life in any way that I can imagine.

In the matter of recent changes in the World today, the act of owning a gun purchased legally in the USA has now come to be in question.  Thought we were supposed to have the right to defend our families!  Apparently, 9/11/2001 changed all of that.  Now Americans are joining the people who attacked our country to try to engage in jihads here in our own country!

We have decent neighbors in the house we live in here in Minnesota.  Have no fear of using my wheelchair outside here at home.  Rarely hear guns going off (then it is at the start of a race or something like that), police drive down the street fairly regularly.

Prompt for the Day: “The Wanderer”

The apparently land locked people of the Daily Post division of Word Press chose today’s prompt of “The Wanderer“.  They included only one single added instruction “Tell us about the top five places you’ve always wanted to visit.”

Foreign Travel

Used to live in the one place I always wanted to visit, Colorado.  Made the mistake of visiting both Texas and California with a former employer.  Have never had much of a desire to leave the USA.  Guess if I had to visit a foreign country, Ireland would be at the top of my list.  Canada isn’t that far from Minnesota, so that is another possibility.  If that was not possible, would settle for England.  Don’t think I would ever venture to France.

Truthfully, tend to be a home body.  Finding handicap accessible places is hard enough here in St. Paul, MN as it is!  Can’t maneuver without the use of my wheelchair.  Shudder to think of accessibility issues in places I do not even speak the language!  Know how to curse in most modern languages, but that probably won’t get someone to help me climb the stairs in Italy!

Prompt for the Day: “Ballerina Fireman Astronaut Movie Star”

The prompt for today is “Ballerina Fireman Astronaut Movie Star“.   Then they asked a couple of questions: “When you were 10, what did you want to be when you grew up? What are you now? Are the two connected?”

The questions are similar to a series of questions I was asked during a college entrance interview.  You forgot to ask what type of books I enjoyed reading. My dream job was always to become an Astronaut.  Found out my first semester in college, I was too short to become one.  Ended up becoming a network engineer.  Had to retire back in 2004, due to my multiple sclerosis leaving me wheelchair bound.  (Hard to track down wiring issues from a wheelchair!)

Have always enjoyed creating word craft, like writing essays.  Won several awards for my essays and reports in high school.  Turned my reports into speeches and exceeded at presenting speeches both locally, county wide, and even received a first place ranking at state level!

Fire tends to scare me too much to ever consider becoming a fireman.  Have been uncoordnated my whole life, so never even considered becoming a ballerina.  Did want to become an ice skater after watching the movie “The Cutting Edge” with friends in college.

Post for the Day: “Bloggers, Unplugged”

The evil people at the Daily Post division of Word Press wanted to slap me in the face with the fact I can’t write without the use of my laptop, because my handwriting has now been rendered illegible by the disease, multiple sclerosis which I have been suffering from since I was little! By choosing “Bloggers, Unplugged” for our daily prompt.  They added the following words to help ignite our fiery writing furnaces “Sometimes, we all need a break from these little glowing boxes. How do you know when it’s time to unplug? What do you do to make it happen?”

There is absolutely no way I could pursue my art without the aid of some type of  computer to assist me.  The only people who can interpret my handwriting now is my husband and my mother.  I know it is time to turn the computer off when my vision starts to get blurry.  Am a morning person, so by around 3 PM I am worn out for the day.

All the people I deal with on a regular basis know this fact.  They do not expect anything productive coming from me after that time.  After I am done with the machine for the day, I unplug it and shut it down.  (Order of the process matters, since I am cursed using a Windows operating system!)

Prompt for the Day: “The Luckiest People”

//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js //
The extroverts from the Daily Post division of Word Press came up with the following prompt to fuel our writing engines for the day it is “The Luckiest People“.  Then they asked a question followed by an instruction – “Who was the first person you encountered today? Write about him or her.”

The first person I encountered was my husband sleeping next to me, then our cat peered over the edge of my side of the bed.  My husband wanted to go on sleeping, since he had worked am extra long shift at his employer’s site.  The cat just wanted me to open the blinds on the windows so he could sun himself.  Let my spouse sleep a little more and got up and started my normal morning routines that included getting breakfast out of the refrigerator and taking my daily medicines.  Once those were all down, made myself a peanut butter sandwich for lunch, then fed the cat (he was not out of food, anyway).  Went back into the bedroom and asked my spouse to wake up one more time.

Laid out my clothes for my morning shower, then asked my husband to get up, again!  Returned to the front room and drank my breakfast shake.  Eventually, my husband came out and went into the bathroom.  He started his morning coffee, and took out the cat’s litter.  Then went downstairs to use his bathroom.  By the time he came back upstairs, the coffee completed perking.  With his fresh cup of coffee in hand, he joined me in the front room.  So the day had officially began!
