The cheerful people of the Daily Post group of Word Press came up with the daily prompt for today as “Express Yourself!“. They also asked the following two questions to prime our writing engines “Do you love to dance, sing, write, sculpt, paint, or debate? What’s your favorite way to express yourself, creatively?”.
Loved making music when I still had the full use of my hands on the piano, and many as many other instruments that I could get my hands on! But multiple sclerosis took the steady use of my hands away from me. Still have several clarinets, the one passed down to me from my mother, and two I inherited from my grandma. They were her father’s instruments that he played in a local musical group.
Even played the piano while sleep walking in college! Went down and used my student I.D. to check out the keys to the piano in the main lobby of the dorm. Put my sheet music up where it belonged (only problem was I put it upside down)! One of my classmates discovered me playing the song “Memory” from the musical “Cats” by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Since I can no longer play music, I write using a laptop computer since my handwriting is no longer legible. Wrote short stories while I was in high school, but gave up that past time because my work was not appreciated. Now I no longer let others judge my work, if I am happy with it that’s all that matters!
Doing my writing and reading books is what makes up my normal days now. Add that in with aggravating our cat and I have a fun filled day of scratch marks and animal bites, who could want more? Occasionally, turn on the television to receive the Eagle’s music station for their music offerings.
