Prompt for the Day: “The Wanderer”

The apparently land locked people of the Daily Post division of Word Press chose today’s prompt of “The Wanderer“.  They included only one single added instruction “Tell us about the top five places you’ve always wanted to visit.”

Foreign Travel

Used to live in the one place I always wanted to visit, Colorado.  Made the mistake of visiting both Texas and California with a former employer.  Have never had much of a desire to leave the USA.  Guess if I had to visit a foreign country, Ireland would be at the top of my list.  Canada isn’t that far from Minnesota, so that is another possibility.  If that was not possible, would settle for England.  Don’t think I would ever venture to France.

Truthfully, tend to be a home body.  Finding handicap accessible places is hard enough here in St. Paul, MN as it is!  Can’t maneuver without the use of my wheelchair.  Shudder to think of accessibility issues in places I do not even speak the language!  Know how to curse in most modern languages, but that probably won’t get someone to help me climb the stairs in Italy!

Please help fight my disease

The medicine my neurologist has me on for my multiple sclerosis is called Tysabri.  Trying to find the actual cost on the internet is impossible.  I remember when I first started on it , the amount the facility tried charging me was well over $2500.  There was no way my husband and I could afford that every 28 days!  Biogen (manufacturing drug company) has been helping us with some of the cost of the drug, but will not continue helping indefinitely.  So I have started a Go Fund Me campaign.  To contribute to the fund, click on the following link: https://www.gofundme.com/zfabhdes

Prompt for the Day: “Climate Control”

The avid watchers of big news decided to steal one of the biggest issues of the day and modify it slightly from climate change to our daily prompt of “Climate Control“.  Then they made a statement followed by two seemingly innocent questions “The idea that the weather and people’s moods are connected is quite old. Do you agree? If yes, how does the weather affect your mood?”.

Weather and my moods

Am a bad person to ask this question of, since it had been scientifically proven that heat (summer) causes problems for people who have the disease multiple sclerosis.  Have been cursed with the illness since I was a child.  So, obviously warm temperatures evict a foul mood from me.  Hate the seizures they can cause if I am not careful.  The cool weather of winter allows me to enjoy a season of good moods.  I completely agree most people’s moods are effected by the weather.

People who suffer from arthritis hurt during rainy periods.  Can confirm that myself, as I have arthritis in my right knee and in my lower back.  My husband has really bad arthritis in his left knee.  We tend to creak like we are up in our eighties as far as age is concerned.

We tend to be grouchy during different pressure fronts.  Low pressure gives me extreme headaches, he has the same problem with high pressure fronts.  The ibuprofen manufacturer’s businesses are kept in a high profit margin by our uses alone!

Prompt for the Day: “Ballerina Fireman Astronaut Movie Star”

The prompt for today is “Ballerina Fireman Astronaut Movie Star“.   Then they asked a couple of questions: “When you were 10, what did you want to be when you grew up? What are you now? Are the two connected?”

The questions are similar to a series of questions I was asked during a college entrance interview.  You forgot to ask what type of books I enjoyed reading. My dream job was always to become an Astronaut.  Found out my first semester in college, I was too short to become one.  Ended up becoming a network engineer.  Had to retire back in 2004, due to my multiple sclerosis leaving me wheelchair bound.  (Hard to track down wiring issues from a wheelchair!)

Have always enjoyed creating word craft, like writing essays.  Won several awards for my essays and reports in high school.  Turned my reports into speeches and exceeded at presenting speeches both locally, county wide, and even received a first place ranking at state level!

Fire tends to scare me too much to ever consider becoming a fireman.  Have been uncoordnated my whole life, so never even considered becoming a ballerina.  Did want to become an ice skater after watching the movie “The Cutting Edge” with friends in college.

Post for the Day: “Bloggers, Unplugged”

The evil people at the Daily Post division of Word Press wanted to slap me in the face with the fact I can’t write without the use of my laptop, because my handwriting has now been rendered illegible by the disease, multiple sclerosis which I have been suffering from since I was little! By choosing “Bloggers, Unplugged” for our daily prompt.  They added the following words to help ignite our fiery writing furnaces “Sometimes, we all need a break from these little glowing boxes. How do you know when it’s time to unplug? What do you do to make it happen?”

There is absolutely no way I could pursue my art without the aid of some type of  computer to assist me.  The only people who can interpret my handwriting now is my husband and my mother.  I know it is time to turn the computer off when my vision starts to get blurry.  Am a morning person, so by around 3 PM I am worn out for the day.

All the people I deal with on a regular basis know this fact.  They do not expect anything productive coming from me after that time.  After I am done with the machine for the day, I unplug it and shut it down.  (Order of the process matters, since I am cursed using a Windows operating system!)

Prompt for the Day: “The Luckiest People”

//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js //
The extroverts from the Daily Post division of Word Press came up with the following prompt to fuel our writing engines for the day it is “The Luckiest People“.  Then they asked a question followed by an instruction – “Who was the first person you encountered today? Write about him or her.”

The first person I encountered was my husband sleeping next to me, then our cat peered over the edge of my side of the bed.  My husband wanted to go on sleeping, since he had worked am extra long shift at his employer’s site.  The cat just wanted me to open the blinds on the windows so he could sun himself.  Let my spouse sleep a little more and got up and started my normal morning routines that included getting breakfast out of the refrigerator and taking my daily medicines.  Once those were all down, made myself a peanut butter sandwich for lunch, then fed the cat (he was not out of food, anyway).  Went back into the bedroom and asked my spouse to wake up one more time.

Laid out my clothes for my morning shower, then asked my husband to get up, again!  Returned to the front room and drank my breakfast shake.  Eventually, my husband came out and went into the bathroom.  He started his morning coffee, and took out the cat’s litter.  Then went downstairs to use his bathroom.  By the time he came back upstairs, the coffee completed perking.  With his fresh cup of coffee in hand, he joined me in the front room.  So the day had officially began!

Optic Neuritis!

Optic neuritis is one of the most common symptoms of multiple sclerosis.  I hate it!  The only worse multiple sclerosis symptom is the feeling of vertigo.  Vertigo makes you want to throw up because you feel like you are on the wave riddled sea during a horrible storm.  If I do not take motion sickness medicine, start vomiting uncontrollably from vertigo.  With optic neuritis, I simply have to cover the affected eye with a patch and take three ibuprofen pills every four hours.

Sleep also helps rest my eyes, so I take a lot of naps while suffering from the optics.  It beats getting the double vision.  Used to have that happen all the time when I was still able to drive.  Would try to avoid the vehicle that my eyes told me was the closest to my car.  The amazing fact is that I was never involved in an accident while having double vision!

Prompt for the day-“Free Association Writing”

None of my normal sources of writing inspiration had any prompts available for today, so dug up an old entry from Prompt Stomp week number 6 that I had not used yet. The prompt is “Free Association Writing“.

Have gotten needed inspiration from

The Prompt Stomp before so it was were I should have looked first, unfortunately now that sources like all my other places I normally rely on must have been to shaken by the tragedy in Paris, France on the 13th of this month.  Come on people, just like 9/11/2001 in the US you just have to move on with life!

Evil is first thing that comes to mind

Followed by destruction, loss of lives, wasteful massacres, blood baths, I could keep going indefinitely.  What is the point of mourning the lives lost, if we do nothing to help prevent the next time from happening?  Apparently monitoring the border crossings of existing countries is not helping any place here on Earth!  Think China may have been on the right track when they built the Great Wall years ago.  The population may not have liked it, but it helped cut down on invasions.  Sometimes building walls has not been to help people, but to segregate parts of the world.  Dividing families by building walls in the middle of the night is not suggested.

Please help me get my medicines

I have a disease called multiple sclerosis.  Unfortunately, the drugs that allow me to survive with it are extremely expensive.  Have set up a GoFundMe campaign to try to get the money necessary to pay for the infusions I have to receive every 28 days.  The link to my campaign is here: https://www.gofundme.com/zfabhdes Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
