Prompt of for the Day: “Press It”

The energetic people from the Daily Post group of Word Press crafted today’s prompt of “Press It” to help us authors share the love of other people’s writings.  They gave us one single instruction for our works today “Give some love to three blog posts you’ve read and loved in the past week, and tell us why they’re worth reading.”

Considering I spend a lot of time reading other people’s work, limiting it to only three may be quite the challenge!

One of the ones has to be:

One by Janice Wald http://mostlyblogging.com/8-backlinking-mistakes-that-every-blogger-should-avoid/.  Learned a lot from this post like normal.  Just about every single week, she shares information I end up incorporating in my blogs!

Another is:

Crissy Dean contributor under the name if reallifenaturalwife.  She always offers a good read.  Here is one of here works:  http://reallifenaturalwife.com/2015/08/26/anna-duggar-is-blamed-for-her-husbands-affair/#more-1631.  Controversial, occasionally, but who doesn’t enjoy a great debate or two to get the blood pumping?

If you want to do deep thinking:

Follow, http://highexistence.com/.  There are several contributors to this site.  Haven’t come across a single boring entry here.  Who knows what in the cosmos you will learn about.  Black holes, deep space adventures, religions, nothing is off limits with these people.  Should We Rever the Universe?

Please help fight my disease

The medicine my neurologist has me on for my multiple sclerosis is called Tysabri.  Trying to find the actual cost on the internet is impossible.  I remember when I first started on it , the amount the facility tried charging me was well over $2500.  There was no way my husband and I could afford that every 28 days!  Biogen (the manufacturing drug company) has been helping us with some of the cost of the drug, but will not continue helping indefinitely.  So I have started a Go Fund Me campaign.  To contribute to the fund, click on the following link: https://www.gofundme.com/zfabhdes

Prompt for the Day: “Life Line”

The official prompt for the day did not speak to me, so I used the prompt they gave two days ago of “Life Line“.  I actually have to separate life lines I lean on each and every day!

My husband

The first life line is my husband, who helps me to survive with my sanity.  He makes sure I eat when I do not feel like eating, and he cooks at least one hot meal for me every day (my cooking sucks!).  He takes me to all my scheduled doctors appointments.  Even picks up all the medicines I need to help me survive my multiple sclerosis and depression.

He keeps me entertained by running my favorite television shows, even though he doesn’t like them as much as I do.  Purchased a copy of the Disney DVD of Aladdin, because I used to have it on VHS.  The VHS machine died, so we are forced with converting our collection slowly to DVD’s.  Have been surviving in the interim on a Netflix subscription.  He is employed full time, while I am just at home collecting my disability income from medicare.

My cell phone

The second life line is my cell phone.  It is by my side 24 hours a day (except when I am in the shower, obviously).  If I were to suffer a fall, 911 is within my reach!  Using my cell phone, I can get in touch with friends, family, and anyone else I need to speak with.

Prompt of the Day : “If I Ruled the World”

The power hungry people at the Daily Post division of Word Press came up with today’s prompt of “If I Ruled the World“.  Included a single direction and then asked a really difficult question – “You’ve been given the superpower to change one law of nature. How do you use it?

The law I want to change

Is the ability for germs to mutate.  With this change the creation of super bugs would no longer occur naturally.  That unfortunately does not rule out a man made germ being created.  The natural super bugs would ease the work of doctors and nurses all over the world.

No more cancer mutations to take the lives of children before they reach their prime.  Deadly MERS infections would be cut out.  Diseases we had knocked out in the US, years ago returning to haunt us with a significantly worse out break.  People today are not equipped  to deal with things like the bubonic plague.

Bloody Mess!

The big toe on my right foot was really itching bad as I started getting ready for bed.  Made the mistake of reaching down to scratch it.  A hangnail got caught in the process and ripped off.  Blood started gushing out of my toe!

I have a disease known as multiple sclerosis.  My neurologist has me on a medicine called Tysabri to help me keep a minimal level of coordination.  That was not what caused the blood gush, the Heparin they use to close of my port to my veins is a blood thinner.  Seems now when I get a sever injury (ripped hang nail) blood sprays everywhere.   The blood loss left me feeling extremely drained when it happened last night, so I just made sure my foot was elevated as I slept.

Had to clean up the blood trail on the bedroom door and the floor both after getting up this morning. Toe is still throbbing, but at least when I took my shower this morning there was absolutely no blood loss!  Good thing is I am not grossed out by the sight of blood or it would have been even worse of a disaster.

Prompt for the Day – “Pick Your Gadget”

The clever people associated with the Daily Post portion of Word Press were given the following suggestion for today’s prompt to intrigue our minds “Pick Your Gadget“.  They followed that prompt with a statement and a question: “Your local electronics store has just started selling time machines, anywhere doors, and invisibility helmets. You can only afford one. Which of these do you buy, and why?”

Electronics Store

The only places that interest me more are a computer store and a hardware store.  An electronics store puts me in near nirvana!

Think if I had to make the choice suggested by the Daily Press, I would chose the time machine so I could go visit my grandpa when he was still alive and younger than when I was born.  Would love to have a chance to meat him before the emphysema started causing him breathing problems.  His career consisted of many different jobs.  By the time I was born, he was the caretaker of the local cemetery in town.  He built buildings all over the country.  He literally traveled the world as a Navy crew member.  While in the Navy he met and married my grandmother.  They had three children together.  Since he was based near the eastern coast of America, his kids grew up around the Norfolk Virginia area.

Upon retiring, they all journeyed back to the town where grandma grew up in and he purchased a home for them.  I saw the house many times (basically every week while living at home), wish I could have seen all the changes that were made to it along the way.

Prompt for the Day – “Pour Some Sugar on Me”

The sweet people from the Daily Post division of Word Press came up with the following prompt for the day: “Pour Some Sugar on Me“.  Then they asked a few questions: “What is your favorite sweet thing to eat? Bread pudding? Chocolate chip oatmeal cookies? A smooth and creamy piece of cheesecake? Tell us all about the anticipation and delight of eating your favorite dessert. Not into sweets? Tell us all about your weakness for that certain salty snack.”

First thing that came to mind was a song from Def Leppard by the same name.

My favorite sweets

Basically, I prefer plain dark milk chocolate.  Generally eat three pieces a day.  Hate other additives to my chocolate these days.  Too big of a chance of having an allergic reaction to the additive.

Occasionally, after taking a lactose digestive aid I will eat a piece of silk chocolate cheese cake.  The last time I indulged in the cheese cake was literally several years ago.  When my husband and I were first married, I would make homemade fudge for the holidays (our anniversary is in December) so I spoil us with sweets.  Now that we have been together for twenty years, we both try to watch our weights.

Prompt for the Day-“Sorry, I’m Busy”

The extremely engrossed people at the Daily Post division of Word Press came up with “Sorry, I’m Busy” for today’s prompt.  They included a single statement of direction to inspire us further “Tell us about a time when you should have helped someone… but didn’t.”

Having grown up in the middle of nowhere USA, helping people was what we did everyday!  Guess was brought up to help those in need from a young age.  Remember helping classmates in first grade doing things like learning to chew with your mouth closed so you didn’t gross the rest of the lunch table out with “SEE food”!  After that grade we were bused to a different school, because the old building was no longer deemed safe.  Now in a much bigger (small town class size of 40+) school, still helped my classmates get by each day.

Once I moved on to follow my career in network engineering, met people from all over the country.  Still tried to help the people I met.  Not a good trait for the only female working in your career of choice in a male dominated profession, but I still tried to help where ever I could!
