Prompt for the Day: “Roaring Laughter”

The comic people from the Daily Post division of Word Press came up with the prompt for today of “Roaring Laughter“.  They also asked two additional questions-“What was the last thing that gave you a real, authentic, tearful, hearty belly laugh? Why was it so funny?”

Don’t seem to Laugh Roaringly Anymore

Not sure where the laughs went.  Life just doesn’t seem funny today for some reason.  Occasionally break out in the case of the annoying giggles at the worst times!  That type of laughter can have a real damper on your partner’s sex drive, even if you were not laughing at him.  When he is just trying to pop your back into alignment, you can’t be giggling at anything.

Occasionally, laugh a little when our cat falls off the top of my husband’s recliner.  That happens when the mail is delivered, the trash is picked up by the trash removal service, or he just falls off for no discernable reason at all!  There is a reason we refer to him as dorky, after all.

Dorky is better than calling him stupid, in my opinion.  If someone walks by on the sidewalk in front of our house, he sometimes falls off just because he seems to be scared of anything and everything!  When it starts raining, he is scared of the noise of the rain hitting our windows.  He actually seems to think we control the sun’s ability to shine each day.

The medicine my neurologist has put me on for my multiple sclerosis is called Tysabri. Trying to find the actual cost on the internet is nearly impossible. I remember when I first started on the drug the amount the facility tried charging me was well over $2500. There was no way my husband and I could afford that every 28 days! Biogen (the company that manufactures the drug) has been helping us with some of the cost of the drug, but will not continue helping indefinitely. So I have started a Go Fund Me campaign. Prompt for the Day: “The Eighth Sin”

The sacrilegious people from the Daily Post group of Word Press chose “The Eighth Sin” to grease our writing engines up.  Then they asked several incriminating questions that need answers given to them-“Remember the seven cardinal sins? You’re given the serious task of adding a new one to the list — another trait or behavior you find particularly unacceptable, for whatever reason. What’s sin #8 for you? Why?”

The Eighth Sin

Before starting this writing, had to do some research on what the seven cardinal sins were.  They are:

  1. Envy = the desire to have an item or experience that someone else possesses
  2. Gluttony = excessive ongoing consumption of food or drink
  3. Greed or Avarice = an excessive pursuit of material possessions
  4. Lust = an uncontrollable passion or longing, especially for sexual desires
  5. Pride = excessive view of one’s self without regard to others.
  6. Sloth = excessive laziness or the failure to act and utilize one’s talents
  7. Wrath = uncontrollable feelings of anger and hate towards another person

Think the seven above cover basically everything I can think of even in today’s misguided world!  Yeah, we may have made it easier to commit the sins, but we haven’t invented anything new.

Maybe the 8th should be taking advantage of the sick or elderly in today’s world.  We should respect the elderly for their knowledge and life lessons they can share with us all.  Preying on the elderly should be the worst deadly sin in existence in my opinion!

Prompt for the Day-“Saturday Night”

The apparent extroverts on the Daily Post division of Word Press’ staff decided that “Saturday Night” should be the creative launching board for today’s creative endeavors.  The also added one single statement to ignite our imaginative sparks further:”Tell us about the most exciting big night out you had recently.”

Our Saturday Nights

Here lately, consist of heading off to catch some much-needed slumber.  Not exactly the life of the party these days.  After about 5 PM each night we are pretty well dead due to exhaustion.  We stay up until 9 PM to finish watching the evening news (weather report). Back in our 20’s and 30’s we could just about last until the next morning staying awake.  We had a much more enjoyable environment back then, both in MO and CO.  There were good friends in our lives back then that would party with us until we all were worn out.

Miss meeting with our group of friends.  I still keep in touch over the internet with some of them, but it is just not the same!  Call a few people on my cell phone, but that is not as good as face to face talking to them.

Prompt for the Day-“Just Another Day”

The inquiring people at the Daily Post department of Word Press crafted today’s prompt of “Just Another Day” to ignite our creative sparks.  They made one additional comment, followed by a question: “Our days are organized around numerous small actions we repeat over and over. What’s your favorite daily ritual?”

My favorite Daily Ritual

The prompt for today made me think of the wonderful song “Another Day in Paradise” by the talented musician Phil Collins.

My personal favorite daily ritual happens around one in the afternoon each day.  I eat three squares of pure dark chocolate by Hersey’s Bliss, while reading a book.  Once that is completed, I proceed to call my best friend from grade, junior, senior high school.  We were friends long before I took her with me to my grandparents in grade school, where my grandma started laughing at us because neither of us knew we were actually cousins!  Even though we turned out to be related, we continued our friendship!  (All of my other relatives, I do not get along with at all.)  I naturally do not hold being related to me against my good friend.

Prompt for the Day-“Life After Blogs”

The curious people at the Daily Post division of Word Press came up with most artist’s greatest fear for today’s prompt “Life After Blogs” to give us nightmares for weeks to come!  Then to top that mess off, they asked a seemingly innocent question: “Your life without a computer: what does it look like?”

Don’t even want to Imagine

My life with no outlets like blogging!  My handwriting now is illegible due to a disease I inherited from my mother’s side of the family.  Multiple sclerosis has taken away my coordination as well as my ability to walk!  Not only has it stolen that from me, but it has taken away my ability to pursue my career as a network engineer.  Try chasing a wiring problem from a wheelchair some time.

Have been typing since I was in 4th grade.  Taught myself how to type on my mom’s old manual typewriter.  (Miss that machine!)  My handwriting back then was, at least, legible, but the teachers would mark me down for sloppiness.  So I typed to improve my grades!  There was no automatic erasing on the manual machine.  Ever tried to correct a typing mistake on one of those units?  You learned really quickly not to make errors!

Prompt for the Day: “Key Takeaway”

The questioning people at the Daily Post group of Word Press would like to be given your personal “Key Takeaway” for free.  They included a single statement to get you started on today’s creation-“Give your newer sisters and brothers-in-WordPress one piece of advice based on your experiences blogging.”

My Takeaway

Would have to be avoid investing too much money at the start of your blogging experience!  There are WAY too many sites that will help you get your blog started FREE of charge.  My personal favorite has to be the obvious free sites from Word Press.   Word Press also offers free training on how to write, blog, and other subjects.  Other free blogging sites include Blogger and if you are just wanting a try setting up a free website try using Wix.

Personally, I wasted way too much money years ago when I was starting out by purchasing a website and signing up with a company that promised to make me thousands of dollars if I just followed them.  The company I am speaking of was GVO.  Was not the great value they promised.  Just about cost me my marriage with my husband (not a price I am willing to pay!).

Prompt for the Day: “Not Lemonade”

The optimistic people at the Daily Post group of Word Press came up with today’s prompt of “Not Lemonade” to try to inspire our daily creations.  They also added two sentences to help-“When life gives you lemons… make something else. Tell us about a time you used an object or resolved a tricky situation in an unorthodox way.”

But I Like Good Lemonade

Give me a few lemons and some sugar, and I will whip up a great batch of lemonade!  During the summer lemonade is my go to drink of choice, beats the heck out of iced tea or a soda.  Unfortunately, lemonade is not the choice of too many others.

When we bought and moved into our house in August, there was no ramp for me to use to get my wheelchair in and out of the home.  So for several months, we survived by using slats of cheap aluminum to get me and my wheelchair in and out.  Scared me to death traveling both up and down the back door.  By the end of the year, I had found and contacted a company that built ramps to enable handicapped people like me to access the world.  If you need similar help visit the organization that has the single driving purpose of working to create access for everyone at: http://www.ramps.org/ The gentlemen that came to my home were all very polite and conscientious.

Unfortunately, the weather didn’t always cooperate.  So due to rain, it took a little longer than they wanted it to, but I was ecstatic that there was going to be a better solution in the future!  Once the rain broke they worked hard every day.  The last day of the build, it started raining just as they were cleaning up the site.  Now am the happy owner of a wooden ramp that meets all ADA requirements!  Can come and go as I please now.

Prompt for the Day: “Kick It”

The demonstrative people from the Daily Post department of Word Press constructed the prompt for today’s work of “Kick It” to inspire us.  Then they asked a single direct question-“What’s the 11th item on your bucket list?”

My Bucket List

Does not exist.  I only set short-term goals now.  There is absolutely no way I will ever reach outer space while I am still living.  That was the first dream I ever had.  The dream was crushed when I learned there was a height requirement for astronauts during my freshman year in college.  I already got to live in the state of Colorado for seven glorious years.  Worked for many years as a successful network engineer, so I have lived the best job that I could achieve due to my short stature.

Fell in love with and married the man of my dreams.  We have been married for over twenty wonderful years so far!  Made friends all over the world, now that it is so interconnected by the internet.  (Here I thought only geeks like myself would pursue that medium while growing up back in the middle of nowhere!)

Prompt of the Day: “My Favorite”

The possessive people at the Daily Post group of Word Press came up with today’s creative prompt of “My Favorite”.  They asked a single intrusive question followed by a single sentence of instruction-“What’s the most time you’ve ever spent apart from your favorite person? Tell us about it.”

Personal Favorite

Would have to be my husband.  Forced to spend a month away from him while I was sent far out of state.  At the time, we were living in an apartment in a suburb of Chicago, IL.  Had to spend an entire month in the LA area of California.  Not only was I very lonely, missed an entire month with the two kittens we had just adopted!  When I finally made it back, my cat ignored me for about an entire week!

My husband met me at O’Hare airport when I flew in.  After we got back to our apartment, dropped my bags on the floor and things got interesting.  He proved how much he missed me physically.  Was a great coming home party of two, if you know what I mean!

One of the other computer people in the LA team actually tried hitting on me, even though I had clearly let them all know that I was happily married!  The geek actually pursued me after my husband and I relocated to Colorado.  Had my husband attend one of our company’s meetings so he could show the idiot how much bigger than him he was.

Prompt for the Day: “( YAWN )”

The boring people at the Daily Post group of Word Press really stretched their minds to arrive at the prompt of “YAWN” for today’s writing inspiration.  Thay also included a single question-“What bores you?”

Boredom!

This topic makes me think of an episode from the television series “M.A.S.H.”, where Hawkeye conjugates the word “bored” out loud to his tentmate.

Politics, in general, bore me today.  Where did the days of politicians actually working for their constituents go?  Nowadays, it seems as if they feel that they are owed the right of a seat in congress or the senate.  They used to have to EARN the right to be chosen to represent the everyday people of this country.

Religions now days also bore me to tears!  Too many faiths seem to be after the almighty dollar instead of saving other’s souls from sin and eternal damnation.  Aren’t they supposed to concentrate on helping other humans live a fulfilling life in the service of the Lord?

Here’s a strange thought, how about if a politician manages to feel the calling from above?  Would they try to save their followers?
