Reach is the Prompt for the Day

The people who must be blessed with height chose the word “Reach” for today’s prompt for us to create various works of art based on.

Everything is Out of My Physical Reach

Comes from being born short.  Managed to obtain my dream of being a successful network engineer, but had to give that position up due to not being able to chase wiring anymore, because a disease confined me to a wheelchair.

Miss telling data both where to go and how to get there!  Do Not Piss Off the engineer in charge of your network, or your traffic might be routed the slowest way posshttp://saintpblogging.com/wp/reach-is-the-prompt-for-the-day/ible.  Yeah the traffic will still arrive, just a few seconds later!  If they are really ticked off, it might end up in the “bit bucket” other wise known as file 13 or trash.

If you want to contact me, all you have to do is fill out the form below:

All responses will be read by me personally.  Thank you for your comments!

Dreamed of being an astronaut while I was little

Didn’t find out there was a height requirement until I left for college.  There was absolutely no way I could ever reach that goal.  Needed to be several inches taller.  So that was completely out of my reach!  Changed my major to computer science and learned all about programming (which is really boring) and working with network traffic.  Preferred that side of the science!

What was your dream when you were little?

Please Help Fight Evil Disease

The medicine my neurologist prescribed for me to treat my multiple sclerosis is called Tysabri. Trying to find the actual cost on the internet is basically nearly impossible. I remember when I first started on the drug the amount the facility tried charging me was well over $2500. There was no way my husband and I could afford that then or every 28 days! Biogen (the company that manufactures the drug) has been helping us with some of the cost of the drug, but will not continue helping indefinitely. If you would like to contribute to my fight against this mind stealing disease, please contribute by visit my personal website at http://saintpblogging.com/wp/ and seeing the copies of my writings located there!

Prompt for the Day: “Journey”

The homebodies from the Daily Post group of Word Press want us to create art around the word “Journey“.

Am Content to Stay at Home

Have everything I need here in this location.  Great transportation is available when I have to visit doctors.  Neighbors are friendly.  Emergency personnel do their jobs thoroughly.  Local police keep our homes safe.  What more could I want?  My days of travelling all over the country ended due to having to resign my job due to health problems.  Am wheelchair bound now, unfortunately.

My husband now is forced by his employer to visit locations out of state for training.  He is not adapting to the new locations like I did.  Forgot to take his pillow or something to remind him of home, I guess!

If you would like to contact me, simply fill out the form below:

All responses will be read by myself!  Thank you for your time.

My journeys have been completed.  Where will yours lead you?

Used to dream of being an astronaut when I was little.  Until I went away to college and learned there was a height requirement that I had no chance of meeting.  Am only a little over five feet tall.

Prompt for the Day: “Dream”

The grand dreamers at the Daily Post group of Word Press pulled the word “Dream” out of an old ragged hat to be the focus of our various daily creations.

Music First And Foremost

The Everly Brothers preformed the song: “All I Have to Do is Dream“.  Then there is the song by the Mamas & the Papas entitled: “Dream a Little Dream of Me“.  Then there was Gary Wright’s “DreamWeaver“.

I Used to Dream

Wanted to be an astronaut when I was little.  Got a local politician in congress to give me a recommendation to the United States Air Force Academy located in Colorado Springs.  The only problem was I wasn’t old enough to enter the military without a parent’s signature.  They hit the roof when I asked them to sign for me.

So had to win a scholarship to be able to attend college as far away from them as possible.  While in my first semester of college I uncovered the physical requirements for an astronaut.  I was too short to ever become one.  Crestfallen, I focused on my other interests of computers.  My new dream became to manage huge computer systems.  Did an internship in which I was able to put further constraints on my dreams.  Programming bored me silly!  What turned me on was directing network traffic.

Ended up becoming a successful network engineer.  Lived that dream for many years in several states of the country.  That dream ended back in 2004 when we left Colorado where we had lived for over seven years.  The relocation just about cost us everything.  Putting our dreams on stand still.

We moved many more times until we finally relocated to our current house.  Am now wheelchair bound, but have access to a service that picks me up from our house and delivers me and my wheelchair at our chosen destinations.  Our neighbors are great, not as good as the ones we had back in CO, but nice.

Prompt for the Day-“Money for Nothing”

The money-centered people at the Daily Post group of Word Press came up with the prompt for the day of “Money for Nothing“.  They made several statements with a question or two thrown in for good measure: “If you’re like most of us, you need to earn money by working for a living. Describe your ultimate job. If you’re in your dream job, tell us all about it — what is it that you love? What fulfills you? If you’re not in your dream job, describe for us what your ultimate job would be.”

They might have been fans of 1985 music

Back in that time period, Dire Straits did a song with the same title it is included in this post- Dire Straits – Money For Nothing music video.

My ultimate dream job would have been to be an astronaut, but I am too short.  So I settled for the next best job I could hold, that of a network engineer.  Got to manage the networks of major fortune 500 companies located throughout the midwestern USA.

My mind controlled where the data went and how fast / secure it was on the way to the destination.  During the year 2000 panic, got to quiet the fears of major banking companies that as long as they made sure their networking equipment had all their updates applied, they would make it through without as much as a single blip in the systems.

Then in the late 2000’s my health started to rapidly decline due to a disease known as multiple sclerosis starting to act up aggressively.

Prompt for the Day: “Ballerina Fireman Astronaut Movie Star”

The prompt for today is “Ballerina Fireman Astronaut Movie Star“.   Then they asked a couple of questions: “When you were 10, what did you want to be when you grew up? What are you now? Are the two connected?”

The questions are similar to a series of questions I was asked during a college entrance interview.  You forgot to ask what type of books I enjoyed reading. My dream job was always to become an Astronaut.  Found out my first semester in college, I was too short to become one.  Ended up becoming a network engineer.  Had to retire back in 2004, due to my multiple sclerosis leaving me wheelchair bound.  (Hard to track down wiring issues from a wheelchair!)

Have always enjoyed creating word craft, like writing essays.  Won several awards for my essays and reports in high school.  Turned my reports into speeches and exceeded at presenting speeches both locally, county wide, and even received a first place ranking at state level!

Fire tends to scare me too much to ever consider becoming a fireman.  Have been uncoordnated my whole life, so never even considered becoming a ballerina.  Did want to become an ice skater after watching the movie “The Cutting Edge” with friends in college.

Prompt for the Day: “Out of Reach”

The choice of words for the Daily Prompt for today is “Out of Reach“.  When you only stand a lowly five feet one inch,  what isn’t out of reach?  If you want to be even more realistic am a short person confined to a wheelchair, due to multiple sclerosis.

My life is basically out of reach these days.  Dreamt of being an astronaut when I was little, didn’t find out until college there was a height requirement.  That dream was several inches out of my reach.  Dated a boy in college with major mommy issues.  Ended up breaking up with him.  The ass wipe then broke into my apartment and stole a pair of my underwear!  Tried getting the local police to do something to help.  They just about laughed at me to my face.  So the security of getting police help was way out of reach while living in that apartment complex!

Took a chance using a local dating service.  Met some more real losers.  Answered a want ad from the local newspaper of a guy looking for companionship.  He was better than the first people I met from the dating service, but he just wanted a one night stand.  Finally saw a guy from the dating service that looked interesting.  Only problem was he worked nights at the local G.E. plant.  We agreed to meet at a local restaurant after he got off work one night.  Basically ended up being just about love at first sight.  The only thing out of reach was we met after midnight and I had an early college class the next day.  We went our separate ways with the exchange of phone numbers.

He called me up in the after noon of the next day.  At a more reasonable hour we met again at the same place.  We started talking about where we were currently living.  Told him what road I lived on.  He then told me the name of the apartment complex I lived in!  Scared the shit out of me.  Was this guy a stalker or what?  He laughed and told me he lived in the same complex!  Just on a different side of the mass of buildings.  We each were using different laundry areas or we would have met earlier.  After we had finished our meals we went to our own vehicles.

He called me later to talk before he left for work.  I was smitten.  He was not so far out of my reach!

Prompt for the Day: “I’ve Become My Parents”

The prompt given to the blogging community by the people at the Daily Post division of WordPress is “I’ve Become My Parents“.

In the case of my mother, that is an extreme compliment.  She has raised 3 children of her own and countless others, who have benefited from her wise guidance.  Works in the town’s local school system as a teaching assistant.  Has more college instruction than most of the actual teaching staff.  Specializes in helping the kids with learning disabilities.  That’s her day job.  At night and during the weekends, she sells Tupperware products!  She also is a full time slave for my father’s company Wagner Holstein Dairy Farm (has no web presence at this time).

In the case of my father, I am insulted to be compared to him!  He is the reason I am so short.  Am only five foot and one lousy inch tall.  My mom is taller than he is.  Everyone is taller, except me.  My doctor who treated me as a child, didn’t notice I had scoliosis until I went in for my fifth grade physical.  Nothing was ever done to combat my crooked spine!  While living in Lombard, IL went to a chiropractor about a back ache.  After going there several times, he let me know that if my spine had been put in a brace upon diagnosis way back in grade school, I’d be a couple of inches taller!

The main reason I could not pursue my dream job of being an astronaut was I needed five more inches in height.  Could not get a back brace due to the cost of the brace and need for follow up appointments to monitor my back’s progress.  Would not be able to have done my daily farm chores while wearing it, either.  There are weight lifting restraints while having a brace on.  No more handling of bales, buckets of calf supplements, or even lifting a bag of dog food with the brace.
