Fierce is the Prompt for the Day

The actual prompt for today did not speak to me, so I chose a prompt from a while back that I had not used yet.  The prompt I chose to use for today is “Fierce“.

Rarely Feel Fierce These Days

Tend to be more timid than violent lately.  Probably is a good change!

When did You Last feel Savage Energies in Your Body?

Used to Feel Savage While Solving Computer Networking Problems

Since had to retire due to health back in 2004, lost the will to fight, unfortunately.  Also lost all my confidence to stand up to others.  Probably was a good thing, but I don’t feel like it is at the moment!

Have lost touch with all the friends I made while living in Colorado.  Since most of them used to be my co-workers we have nothing in common these days.  Even the company we used to be employed by no longer exists!  Was a great place to work and great minds worked there, too!  Have actually lost my mental capabilities since then due to multiple sclerosis.

Am Much More Sedate Now

Calm is such a boring feeling to have constantly.  Miss getting out with my old friends for our regularly scheduled meetings at various locations.  One we used to frequent was actually a biker bar up in Morrison CO!  Had never been to a biker hangout before, then again I was scared of motorcycles back then!

These days, I love riding with my husband on our Honda Goldwing!  Would never have thought I would years ago.  So, I’ve turned into a biker bitch, like my hubby likes to laugh about!  Wouldn’t my old friends be surprised if we showed up for one of our old meetings on our own motorcycle?

Please Help Fight Vile Disease

Found out I had the disease a little over a year after graduation from college.  The medicine my neurologist prescribed for me to treat my multiple sclerosis is called Tysabri. Trying to find the actual cost on the internet is basically nearly impossible. I remember when I first started on the drug the amount the facility tried charging me was well over $2500. There was no way my husband and I could afford that then or every 28 days! Biogen (the company that manufactures the drug) has been helping us with some of the cost of the drug, but will not continue helping indefinitely. If you would like to contribute to my fight against this mind stealing disease, please contribute by visiting  my personal website at http://saintpblogging.com/wp/ and seeing the copies of my writings located there!

Prompt for the Day: “Luxury”

The wasteful people at the Daily Press division of Word Press want us to focus our works of art on the idea of “Luxury” for today.

Generic Products Work Better!

Generic purchases means you are not paying for the expense of a brand.

  1. For some strange reason, the off label medicines tend to actually work better than the name brand drugs do!
  2. Clothing wise. as long as you do not purchase from a crappy chain store, the no-name items last longer than the top price ones’ lifespan.
  3. Food items are the same way.  I prefer the Wal-mart brand of pop called Mountain Lightning.  The name brand of Mountain Dew, which it is made to replicate, seems to have less of a caffeine kick in it.
  4. Motor cycles appear to be similar.  Why over pay for a Harley-Davidson, when a similar vehicle will be more reliable?

Are you a person that insists on only having name brand items in their life?

Have pretty well grown up on generic products.  When I was in high school, preferred Nike’s, because their shoe style was made for narrower feet.  These days, with the obesity problems in America everyone needs wide width.  Getting narrower shoes is just about impossible!

Prompt for the Day: “Companion”

The apparently extroverted people at the Daily Post division of Word Press seem to think everyone needs a partner in crime, so they chose the word “Companion” for us to focus today’s creation of various forms of artistry.

Main Companion is My Husband

He is there beside me through all the horrors in my life.  He goes with me for all important medical appointments.  He even takes me to the most dreaded place of all, the hospital I go to to have my M.R.I.s taken.  Because I have to have general anaesthesia administered to be able to go through the horrible machine.

My husband is also responsible for creating my latest addiction: riding motorcycles!  We have a 2007 Honda Goldwing with a trailer that can pull my wheelchair along with us for the ride.  This enables us to get off the bike safely and stretch our legs out when needed!  Face it, everyone needs to make a call of nature periodically!  Have to find a handicap accessible rest room for my use.  Enjoy drinking water too much for my bladder’s own good.

Animal Tag-Alongs

Had two faithful cats we adopted years ago.  I picked out the one I wanted, he took the animal’s brother to live with us.  Tennyson, (my black kitten) survived travelling through many states with us.  The longest stretch of residency occurred when we lived in Colorado.  The two brother’s played on the cat tower we had purchased for them unendingly!  They used to fight over who go the top of the tower when we first got it, but then my cat discovered the hiding place near the bottom.  He used to curl up inside and sleep undisturbed until his brother caught on to where he was.  Shortly after moving in we added a humming bird feeder to the back yard.  That distracted his brother to no end!  Now my cat could take a decent nap when needed!

His cat died a few years before mine passed on.  So mine had to survive all alone when we moved to Minnesota.  The place we moved to at first was a hideous apartment complex.  My cat only suffered through two gruelling years there before he passed away.  My husband still sees both animals even though neither have ever been at our house where we now live.  I only see mine checking in on me when I am not feeling well.

We adopted a single gray kitten the year after mine passed away.  This animal is nothing like our other animals were.  I think he may have a learning disability!  He is that hard to get to understand simple concepts, like DO NOT get under my wheelchair tires.  You would think getting his tail run over would teach him.

Prompt for the Day: “Price”

The marketing minded people at the Daily Post group of Word Press chose the word “Price” for today’s prompt to drive us to further creations.

Consider the Price

How much does you favorite things actually cost you to obtain?  Are actual things what makes you happy?  I generally prefer things that are free.  Meaning there is no cost associated with them.  I like just spending time with my husband.  Granted riding a motorcycle does cost by the use of gasoline required to power the vehicle, but at least, it is cheaper than riding around in a car or truck!  Rereading a good book cost nothing now when we purchased it years ago.

Cuddling up with our cat cost nothing except the price of feeding the animal.  (Have to also purchase clean litter for it to use.)  If we could just get it to refrain from biting us when he is pissed off!

Unfortunately, visiting the local library will cost the use of the local metro transit bus fees since I can no longer walk due to multiple sclerosis.  The average person could walk there for free.  You could check out a book while there at no cost.

Interesting few days

It started with an appointment with a nurse from my neurologist’s office.  She was going over the results from my neuropsych testing back in June 2015.  Turns out they discovered I was color blind!  Knew that since I was in high school.  Am both depressed and anxious.  No surprise there, either.  The appointment cost my normal co-pay for a specialist of $50.  They also determined I had a spatial vision problem.  In English it means I have problems judging distances.  Learned that one a long time ago the hard way.  Putting a full glass of liquid on a flat surface like a table is a challenge for me.  Good thing I haven’t driven since before we moved into this state back in 2008.

So the Physician’s Assistant  prescribed Lexapro  5 MG once a day for the depression and anxiety.  The only side effect I’ve experienced so for (maybe) a migraine like head ache.  The reason I  said maybe is there was a pressure front moving through the area at the time.  Pressure fronts can trigger migraines in me.

After that was. over went downstairs for my normally scheduled infusion of Tysarbi.  While there, I asked the nurse if Tysarbi could be causing my case of Athlete’s foot.  She said it is possible since it lowers my immune system’s ability to fight off infections.

The next day my husband went downstairs to start our laundry, when my cell phone rang.  It was my father-in-law calling trying to get in touch with my husband.  He had been in a car accident while on his way back from a trip to the state of Texas.  He told me not to worry, he had just bruised his hand a little.  Told him I would have to hang up so that I could call my husband.  Called him and asked him to call his step-father who had been in an accident.  My husband got in contact with my father-in-law and agreed to meet him at the mechanic where the vehicle had been towed to.  We used to use the mechanic before we moved to our house.  He got the clothes in the wash then left.

Got a call from my husband when he arrived at the mechanic’s.  The vehicle will probably have to be totaled due to the damage.  His step-father had done a heck of a lot more damage to himself than he let on to me.  My husband took him to the urgent care clinic to have him looked over and get his hand X-rayed.  Then he contacted his mother to let her know where her husband was!  My husband grounded his step-farther from driving for a month.  When his mom arrived, she grounded her husband too.  Turns our he had broken his hand.  That is JUST a little more than a bruise in my opinion.

My husband came back home, then the company we purchased my husband’s motorcycle from came to tow the our motorcycle away because the brakes were no longer working properly.  I have still not had the chance to ride it with him yet!  He is not a happy camper with his motorcycle in the shop!

The next day, my husband had a chiropractors appointment in the morning.  He got his back adjusted then went grocery shopping for the week ahead.  It was around 3 PM by the time he got back home!  Once home, he got a call from the motorcycle repair shop letting him know the problem with his motorcycle was from a problem that had a recall out to be fixed by the manufacturer.

They weren’t authorized to do the recall work required.  They towed the motorcycle at their cost to a company in the area that could take care of the repair.  It will be fixed there then returned to the place we had bought it from for other repairs that we had requested they complete while they had it.  Brake light modulators for safety, both of us agreed was well worth the added investment!

My father-in-law is now resting safely at home with his wife and cat.  Our motorcycle is in a different repair shop than the one we purchased it from.  No clue when we will have it back.  And I still have NOT gotten to ride the machine, yet!  No clue why I miss it.

Frustration – Resolved!

Miss the man I married back in December of 1995.  He was kind back then.  We had fun together driving around the back roads of the state of Missouri.  I want him back!

Had no idea how to reach him.  He is more interested in the PlayStation downstairs, than anything else.  No clue how we drifted apart.  Granted my body won’t let me go caving now.  Am stuck in this damned wheelchair.

Wanted to be able to get out of this house so bad, but there was no ramp.  Worked on getting a ramp built, but had to depend on the help of others to get it done.  Community ramp building program was who eventually built our ramp for us.  Now I can come and go as weather permits.  Unfortunately. I can not deal with hot temperatures.  Anything over 65 degrees and I get worn out.  Thankfully, this house has a good air conditioning unit in it.  It was one of the two requirements I had for the house we purchased back in August 2014.

My husband bought a   Honda Goldwing.Honda GoldwingIt is the first motorcycle I am willing to try riding!  Had bad experiences with motorcycles while growing up.  He let me sit on this one.  I actually felt safe on it!  Has what I refer to as “OH SHIT” bars on the passenger seat.  Was not dressed to ride that day, so he helped me get off the bike and got me back into my wheelchair.   Shorts are not safe to wear on a motorcycle.   Have to be at least wearing jeans.

Looking forward to my first ride!  If I enjoy my first ride using his old helmet, then we will invest in a helmet to fit me and chaps to wear over my jeans in case of an accident.  Down the road we will have to get a trailer for the motorcycle to carry my wheelchair with us on our travels.  Can’t wait to see where our travels lead us!
