Have You Ever Had an Earworm?

One Day:

Had Bohemian rhapsody stuck in my mind! Click the link below to see the Muppets preform the song which spent way too much time up in my head!

Seems like the Muppets had this effect on me.  Get their melodies stuck in my head, quite frequently!

Back in the 70’s and 80’s jingles from television commercials had a way of inviting themselves in to our minds.  But that was back when commercials were decent.  Today this phenomenon is commonly referred to as an earworm for some unknown reason.   The mental imagery of a worm in my ear doesn’t make for a decent night’s sleep!

Do you have this problem?

Am Not the Only One

That has this condition in our house!  My husband and I both get annoying, but good songs stuck in our minds every day.  Since we both enjoy the same types of music, it is not too bad.

What sucks is when you get a snatch of melody from your childhood intruding into your current life!  Hate when the song that goes “I’m a little tea pot…” gets stuck in my head.

Analysis of My Blog

Black Cat

Black Cat

The reason I chose blog’s name is:

Detest how our city is entered into electronics like G(lobal)P(ositioning)S(ystem) devices. Some websites prefer you to use St. Paul. The government wants the name spelled out fully. So I spelled St. out and named it Saint (which I am NOT) P. blogging. Am nowhere near qualifying for sainthood, unless you are talking about the devil. Think his saints are referred to as demons, not sure about that.

Am more likely to be a Demon than a Saint!

Have a sickly wicked sense of humor. My comments may not hit you right off as funny, they tend to hit you hours later in a sort of “AHA” that’s what the hell she meant to sort of moments.

Currently reside in St. Paul, Minnesota. Hoping this will be the last place I live, am tired of relocating. Have lost touch with too many former great neighbors. So far, I like our new neighborhood. The area kids are great. Enjoy listening to them playing outside when the weather allows it.

Like to Write About Situations

That I feel strongly about like defending the weak and innocent animals. Was very patriotic until our country was hit by terrorists back on 9/11/2001 and our leaders failed to respond. Not to happy about our current government and it’s actions or lack of appropriate response. Am very supportive of the men and women who risk their lives daily keeping us safe.

Some Ghosts Haunting (Or Not) My Life

Our First Two Cats

My husband and I adopted two kittens from the Downers Grove Humane Society in Illinois.  Mine was jet black with 5 single white hairs.  His animal looked a lot like Sylvester from the Looney Toons cartoons.  We learned after a while, his cat was also cross eyed.

When my husband and I moved into our house in Colorado with our two adopted cats, never expected them to meet and befriend a ghost cat in the house!  My black cat would play with the ghost for hours on end.

Ghostly Bully

They would gang up on our other cat.  Then ignore him!  Guess even the ghost community has their own bullies! The ghost cat and our black one would thunder up and down the stairs from the upper level down to the garage level.  Stopping to jump on and off the 6 foot cat tower to annoy our other cat, who ended up running into everything, because of his sight problems.

After 7 years of living in the house we relocated to a home in WI.  The ghost cat unfortunately did not join us.  So my cat was missing his other wordly friend and the our old neighbor’s female cat that he seemed to have a crush on!  She wanted absolutely nothing what so ever to do with him.

More Moves

Had a couple more moves before settling here in Minnesota for good.  We lost the cross eyed cat back in 2006 because it had be put to sleep due to it’s illness.  The black one held on and arrived in MN with us alone in 2008 still missing his brother.  He survived two lonely years brother-less.  In 2010, he was euthanized because of continuous vomiting.  Still see him out of the corner of my eyes when I am feeling sad.  My husband says he sees both of the two brothers, the one with sight trouble following my black one faithfully.

We adopted another animal from the humane society to help me get settled into the apartment with out an animal.  My ghost cat does not like our new pet!  Now if I could only convince my ghost cat to knock the crap out of our current cat, who’s favorite past time is biting me!

The two ghost cats followed us to reside in our house here in Saint Paul, MN.  See my black one whenever I am feeling lonely or depressed.  My husband sees the other one following it faithfully, just like when they were kittens!

5 reasons NOT to Panic!

The timid People at the Daily Post group of Word Press chose the word “Panic” for today’s writing prompt

When was  the last time you panicked?

First Reason to fail to Panic:

The world is not ending (unless you know something the rest of us don’t)!  If you are involved in a secret plot for massive destruction, please let the rest of us know so we can say good-bye to our loved ones.

Second Logic to skip Terror:

Who told you the evil stories that a problem existed?  Are they trustworthy or not?  Most likely they make up stories on a regular basis.  A future politician in the making, in my humble opinion.

Checking Heart

Checking Heart

Third argument for Calm:

Over exerting yourself can lead to dangerous spikes in blood pressure.

Can your heart take the unnecessary abuse?  Should we get you a room at the local hospital in advance, or can you calm yourself down alone?  May need to rewrite your will and Health care directives in advance, like I did!

Fourth Deduction for Relaxing:

All you may need to do is take deep breaths and think about the situation as it REALLY is.  The sky hasn’t fallen, if it did fall make sure to cover your head!

Finally inject bit of Wisdom:

Did panicking ever do you any good during your lifetime?

It never led me to any good in my life.  Just stressed me out for absolutely no good purpose.  Never had a fear of taking tests in school, but for those who did, did the vomiting offer any benefits?  Not my personal favorite way to lose weight!

Stylish is the Prompt for Today

The dapper people of the Daily Post division of Word Press smartly chose the word “Stylish” for today’s prompt.

Never Followed The Latest Trends

Preferred to exist on the tried and true ways.  Black jeans (cared for like they where dress pants) got mistaken by many others as a fresh pressed pair of black well fitting dressy pants.  Was not my fault they could not tell the difference!  Had an employee that reported to me actually comment the reason I probably got the promotion was the fact I always wore dress pants!  He laughed hysterically when I pointed out the pants where just well cared for jeans.  He started emulating my dressing habits.

Have you ever had others comment on the way you dress?

What was In Fashion When You Where In School?

All threw my educational years from kindergarten to graduation with my Bachelor’s degree from college. Jeans where the thing to wear each day!  My first employment was on our family’s dairy farm.  Wore my rattiest jeans to work there.  My first full time job during college was at a company that supported dairy farmers, so jeans where acceptable there, too!  Face it, I lived in jeans and polo style shirts my whole life.

My next employers required a stricter dress code.  Had to invest in actual dress pants and matching jackets to appear in the highly developed business environments located in major cities like the Chicago-metro area of IL.  The pay was a lot better in that situation, so affording the clothing was not a problem!

Retirement Has Relaxed My Needed Clothing Requirements

Still use Jeans during the cooler months of the year!  Along with sweat pants when I am at home.  Between the months of warmer months of March and October, I wear shorts around the house and occasionally out in public.  Granted I retired much earlier than planned due to health problems.

Please Help Fight Evil Disease

Found out I had the disease a little over a year after graduation from college.  The medicine my neurologist prescribed for me to treat my multiple sclerosis currently is called Tysabri. Trying to find the actual cost on the internet is basically nearly impossible. I remember when I first started on the drug the amount the facility tried charging me was well over $2500. There was no way my husband and I could afford that then or every 28 days! Biogen (the company that manufactures the drug) has been helping us with some of the cost of the drug, but will not continue helping indefinitely. If you would like to contribute to my fight against this mind stealing condition, please contribute by visiting  my personal website at http://saintpblogging.com/wp/ and seeing the copies of my writings located there!

4 Reasons Silence is Not Always Good

  1. FIRST Reason To FEAR Quiet: Face it, when little children are not making noise, it usually means that they are up to something!
  2. Second: If your significant other is not making their normal sounds, you are probably in deep trouble.
  3. If you have animals (pets or other creatures) unless they are in their normal sleeping period, they may be trying to escape from their allotted living spaces.
  4. Finally, the OLD adage goes: It is always quietest BEFORE the storm!

Do you prefer absolute quiet?

Passionate is the Prompt for Today

The fervent people at the Daily Post division of Word Press were able to tear themselves grudgingly away from their desires to select “Passionate” as today’s prompt.

My Husband and Our Cat Are My Main Passions

The cat seems to prefer to bite me, only when my husband is in the area.  When he travels off for business trips or leaves for a few days of vacation the cat behaves perfectly.  The two get along fine when my hubby sits in his recliner and the animal jumps up to get petted.  The two sometimes fall asleep together in the chair.  So I safely reason that the feline is not scared of him.  Do not have a clue about why the cat gets the desire to use me as a chew toy, sometimes.

Have you ever had to deal with a biting cat?

Have Been Passionate About My Husband Since First Speaking Over The Phone

The boy sounded just like my grandpa (in mannerisms and beliefs).  Yeah he was a little older than me, a year and a few months, but was able to relax me with the sound of his voice.  I was still attending college full-time and he was working on a night shift at the local G.E. plant.  So are schedules had trouble messing at first.

Eventually, he resigned from the plant to work in delivering chemicals for a local small business who sold cleaning supplies to other small companies.  Worked there for a few months until the business had to close due to lack of customers.  From there he got employed by a lumber and hardware supply store.   About that time my room mate moved out of my apartment.  Managed to convince my now boy friend to move in with me to conserve on costs of living!

After I graduated from college (literally the next day) we got married at the church we had both been attending together for a couple of years.  He took the weekend off from work since we honeymooned out of town (just a couple of towns away).  I took a week off to finish all the legal paperwork required when you change your name.  New driver’s licenses, insurance policies, you know all the important stuff when you are just starting out!

Years Down The Road

I was hired by a network engineering firm.  The branch I was to be with was our of the Chicago-metro area.  This meant we would both have to resign our old jobs and move to a different state of the country. Using a U-Haul paid for by my new employers I drove my car, while my husband drove the U-Haul pulling his pick-up truck.  I had the address of the apartment we would be renting.

Keeping my eyes peeled looking for signs to the suburb we needed, saw a sign pointing off with an arrow in the opposite direction in which I currently heading.  Made an abrupt U-turn forgetting that there was a vehicle pulling another vehicle trying to follow me.  Puled over in a parking lot to let the U-Haul catch up with me.  We got the maps out to locate where exactly how much farther we needed to travel.  Laughingly we discovered we had about a block to our new home!  The manager’s office was closed, so we just left the moving truck with a note explaining we would meet them at opening time tomorrow morning.

Set off in search of a hotel room to sleep in for the night.  Upon paying for our night’s stay I inquired where was a good place to get a decent supper.  The lady suggested a moderately priced restaurant.  Turned out it became one of our favorites while remaining in the area for the next 18 months.  Went to the hotel with leftovers from our meals for tomorrow’s breakfast.

Perplexed is the Prompt for Today

The confused people at the Daily Post division of Word Press came to a puzzling decision by choosing “Perplexed” as the prompt for us to generate our various works of art around for today.

Spend Most of My Time Confused These Days

This is probably just another annoying side effect of the mind stealing disease my family has been cursed with more commonly known as Multiple Sclerosis.  All the females on my mother’s side of the family got their diagnoses after I left the state in which I had grown up to attend college.  Started visiting a chiropractor there for my back troubles.

Finding Out The Truth

After several months of seeing him for adjustments, he finally sent me to get a M.R.I. of my spine taken, because my body wasn’t responding like a normal persons does to having repetitive spinal manipulations.  Something else had to be wrong!  He told me the procedure was just like having an X-ray taken of my whole body.

Boy was he wrong!  You are forced to lie completely still while they feed you body into a very loud machine.  The noise wasn’t the problem, the tiny tube I was forced into was.  I happen to be claustrophobic, just like my mom.  Made it trough the first round of the machine’s views, but then they brought me back out of the tube (ESCAPED ALIVE, I thought to myself) then a lady approached me with the most hideously shaped needle I had ever seen, so I jumped off the table!  Mind you my head was still strapped down where they had tried to secure me for the test.  Head still strapped down, both feet trying to reach the floor (am short), I was going nowhere fast!

All she was trying to do was inject the needed contrast dye into my veins so they could make the scared areas of my brain and spine stand out better.  Since I had definitely moved my body’s positioning, the M.R.I. session was over.  She helped me escape from the place my head had been forced into.  And told me to return to the dressing room where I had left my clothes.

Have you ever had a bad experience with having a medical procedure preformed before?

Last Time At The Chiropractor’s Office

Came into a completely empty waiting area.  (Normally was full of people expecting to see one of the chiropractors.)  This put me one edge.  Signed in at the receptionist’s desk, and took a seat in one of the chairs in the waiting area.  Since I always was early for my appointments, grabbed one of the magazines from the shelves, like normal.  Since there appeared to be no one else in the office, didn’t re-read the old ratty magazine.  After about ten minutes a nurse called me in like normal.  Started to take off my shoes, but she told me it would not be necessary.  I was just supposed to wait for the doctor in the chair instead of on the table.  A few minutes later the chiropractor came in to tell me he would no longer be of any use to me.

I either had Spinal Cancer or Multiple Sclerosis.  From what I had told him he said he thought it would be M.S. but he could not be sure without a complete M.R.I. being run.  Told me to have the people at the reception desk schedule me an appointment with a neurologist, because would need one for which ever disease it turned out to be!

Recharge is the Prompt for Today

The insomniacs from the Daily Post division of Word Press chose the word “Recharge” for us to create various works of art about.

People Who Need a Recharge

Most likely could just use a run of a couple of good nights of undisturbed sleep!  Insomniacs have problems getting any or enough sleep on an on going basis.  Shift workers fall into this problem due to their work schedules that fail to let their bodies develop a natural circadian sleeping pattern.

Made the Mistake of Working Second Shift Once

Would have made it through that mess better, if I wasn’t the shift manager which forced me to attend a weekly meeting a few hours after my shift ended.  We worked 10 hour days each shift.  On the days all shifts met for a meeting ended up being about 14 hours before I stumbled out to my vehicle to head back home (another 1/2 hour to make it there).

You ever Worked a Shift Job?

Favorite Job Ever

Working for a D.S.L. company named Rhythms Net Connections. Got to work in my position of choice, Layer 3 networking!  Solved a multitude of networking routing problems every day.  The people on the teams with me were a great educational resource.

Unfortunately, after a few short wonderful years of my employment with them, they laid all of us off due to the company defaulting on creditors.  For the first time in my life I was unemployed with a huge mortgage to pay! My husband and I needed to resuscitate our income.  There were no jobs in the area that would hire me due to being overqualified for their positions.  Eventually my unemployment benefits threatened to cease.  So I was forced to try working for Home Depot.  While there, I kept my job searching up.  Eventually received a bite on an application to work for a contract position for the Department of Homeland Security.

Went to my first interview in a long time.  Like most people, I was extremely nervous, even got a pair of falsies to stuff in my bra!  Got hired at that interview.  Started getting paid to stay home and research specific technologies we would be using once the center opened in Colorado.  After about 2 months, met the new team I would be working with.  Did not get along with them very well at first.  Then we spit into shifts.  Since my husband was currently working 3nd shift, that is what I applied for.

Working 3rd shift was a new experience for me.  Went to work each day in jeans, since no one else was around, anyway!  They were black jeans that most of the rest of the team mistook for dress pants.  Got promoted again to be team lead.  I always took meticulous notes about who said what and network addresses.  Started creating a world wide network map detailing machine types and network addresses.

The really scary thing was I never received my security clearance, even though I was controlling huge routers that serviced places all over the United States of America.  Talk about a major flaw in D.H.S. itself!  Sort of why I jokingly refer to it as the Department of Insecurity, these days.  Resigned to move out of the state.
