Prompt for the Day: “Epitome”

The picky people from the Daily Press group of Word Press only want us to create works of art that display the best of the group’s work by choosing the word “Epitome” for today’s prompt.

Best of Show?

Have won too many awards in my time for being more than the epitome of my class.  Won grand championship with my dairy cow in 4-H.  Got the showmanship award for helping my little brother make his cow stand during the challenge.  Went home that day with a trophy and a ribbon both!

In school, spent my days at the top student in all my classes except physical education.  Only way to get good grades in that class was be on one of the school’s sports teams.  Competed in many science fairs.  Even went to state twice to participate in that competition for my projects.  Was on the scholar bowl team (we always lost) but it was fun anyway.  Competed with our school’s J.E.T.S. team.  Received a few awards there, as well.

Played in the school’s bands most of my school career until I left for college.  Got an award for my instrumental ability upon graduation from High School.  Made National Honor Society my Sophomore year.  Was a wasted award, but looked good on college applications!

Please Help Fight Terrible Disease

The medicine my neurologist prescribed for me to treat my multiple sclerosis is called Tysabri. Trying to find the actual cost on the internet is basically nearly impossible. I remember when I first started on the drug the amount the facility tried charging me was well over $2500. There was no way my husband and I could afford that then or every 28 days! Biogen (the company that manufactures the drug) has been helping us with some of the cost of the drug, but will not continue helping indefinitely. So I have started a Go Fund Me campaign.
